LOCUSTS AND HONEY JOINS HYPAETHRAL RECORDS ROSTER

“TEACH ME TO LIVE THAT I DREAD THE GRAVE AS LITTLE AS MY BED” LP COMING MAY 2024

Rising from the boggy marshes of the UK, dark ambient funeral doom band Locusts and Honey have signed with Toronto, ON-based record label Hypaethral Records to release their debut LP “Teach me to live that I dread the grave as little as my bed.” The epic 28-minute song, mastered by Greg Dawson at BWC Studios (Thantifaxath, Panzerfaust, Olde), is set for a May 2024 release on vinyl and digital.

Locusts and Honey developed their immense sound from early '90s doom, raw black metal, and drone, creating dense cinematic soundscapes that vacillate between melancholic and menacing. Vocalist Stephen Murray’s harrowing growls layer seamlessly over multi-instrumentalist Tomás Robertson’s plodding dirge, evoking intense feelings of sorrow and anger in the listener.

Digital and vinyl pre-orders will go live on April 10th along with streaming of the song’s second movement, “Leathern Cord” — a brutal 12-minute exploration into the darkest and most evil recesses of the doom metal genre. Inspired by the bog bodies of Northern Europe and Denmark – people of the Iron Age, sacrificially hanged, and found extremely well-preserved in peat – “Leathern Cord” is a meditation on death and what it means to live well.

Founded in 2012, Hypaethral Records stands as one of the preeminent labels in the realms of doom and blackened metal. The Locusts and Honey LP will stand shoulder-to-shoulder alongside releases by atmospheric doomsayers QAALM, suffocating drone from Gates, and the raw blackened crust of Ramlord.
